With the exception of the newly opened South Dakota Ceremonial Site, all the current sites where the Hochoka Healing Center offers authentic Lakota Inipi and Hunblecheya ceremonies are maintained by dedicated individuals on the their own private property. Our vision has been to purchase land for the Hochoka Healing Center adjacent to these existent sites, where additional facilities could be built.
For example, we would like to build cabins or modular buildings where we could provide people, wanting to participate in our ceremonies, a place to stay. Right now, if someone comes from out of town to participate in a ceremony, the only available options are motels or a resting place in the ceremonial leader’s home.
Also, we would like to create educational facilities that would house both Lakota language and Lakota studies classes. Additionally, it is our dream to bring Lakota elders and teachers to our educational centers to share their teachings about their Way of Life. The educational centers would also house the video-tapes that we hope to make of elders sharing their wisdom.
